Date: 13th - 18th June 2025
Location: London College of Communication, ‘(murmured / blared)’ BA Sound Arts graduate exhibition
Duration: 30 minute composition and generative sound
Format: Audiovisual Installation - quadraphonic sound, CRT monitors, motion sensor
This audiovisual installation explores the body as both subject and environment — a site where surface stillness meets microscopic flux. Through layered video footage of endoscopic procedures, magnified skin, and microscopic imagery of human cells, the work constructs an abstract narrative of overlapping temporal states. An observation on the psychophysiological gap, each layer gestures toward the disjunction between lived experience and the molecular systems that silently sustain it.
The films loop continuously across three CRT monitors, while the quadraphonic sound subliminally evolves in response to the unnoticed presence of the audience. A sensor placed by the door registers the movement of those entering and leaving, triggering micro sound events within larger compositions, but only after a several minute delay. This latency ensures that no participant can directly perceive their influence, yet each becomes unwittingly entangled within the structured indeterminacy of an evolving sonic landscape.
Chance, delay, and dissociation become compositional strategies. In doing so, the piece evokes a quiet, affective tension between the body's perceptual immediacy and the slow, autonomous processes that underlie it. Thus, resulting in an environment which bodies pass through and affect — long after they’ve moved on.
